This is a 16-month role to cover our Controller’s maternity leave.  The Controller will be responsible for managing the internal accounting at DIRTT. The Controller will, directly and indirectly, manage a team of 12, primarily on operational accounting activities, ensuring that work is done timely, accurately and in accordance with the Company’s internal control requirements.

What You'll Do   

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, assistance and day-to-day coordination and guidance to their team including coaching, project management, task prioritization and other planning activities
  • Manages the month-end close calendar, including account, journal entry and variance review
  • Works with advisors on quarterly tax provision calculations and monthly and annual tax compliance (U.S. and Canadian)
  • Oversees treasury, accounts payable, fixed assets, operations accounting (cost of sales and inventory), and payroll
  • Liaison with finance team to ensure alignment of priorities and quality of output
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate accounting systems
  • Ensures work is being undertaken in accordance with the Companies policies & procedures and internal control requirements (SoX)
  • Develop and maintain a business partner relationship, and facilitate open communication, with finance and operations personnel
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Provide leadership to and participate in special projects

What You Bring

  • CPA
  • Leader with 10+ years progressively senior accounting experience
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop team
  • Experience working with manufacturing companies an asset
  • Experience working in US GAAP / SOX environments also an asset
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of accounting, finance and audit processes
  • Significant experience working with ERPs – trouble shooting and improving
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products
  • Strong leadership, project management and time management skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to making sure deadlines are maintained and achieved while ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
  • Solid problem-solving, negotiation and business acumen skills
  • Excellent analytical, spreadsheet and abstract reasoning skills
  • Highly developed team building, leadership and collaboration skills
  • Trustworthy and success-oriented team player with a high energy level
  • Able to multi-task with efficiency; self-starter
