With DIRTT growing leaps and bounds, we are looking for a Junior CAD Technician to join our Timber Frame Team in Calgary. This challenging position will suit someone with a strong “go-getter” attitude, who's extremely detail oriented and not afraid to get things done.  You are a driven, energetic, and professional individual with a strong work ethic. The ability to plan proactively and respond to changing needs will bring you success in this position.

What you’ll do:

  • Cultivate a broad knowledge of the DIRTT process with a specific focus on Timber Frame assemblies and structures.
  • Create manufacturing drawings and details for Heavy Timber, Type lV Construction, Structural Sheet Metal, and Wood Assemblies.
  • Create shop drawings for building permit applications, structural drawings, installation drawings and coordinate the details that go hand in hand.
  • Review clients (and their consultants) drawings for compliance with DIRTT’s Timber Frame requirements.
  • Creating 2D and 3D models, and engineering drawings for production and installation.

Who you are:

  • You engage in innovative thinking, display good listening skills and have ability to problem solve in creative ways.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work effectively with a diverse group including customers, trades people and technical personnel.
  • Knowledge of the principles of sustainability – “environmental” is in our name!
  • Experience working under pressure to meet project millstones and completion dates.

What you bring to the role:

  • Minimum of a 2-year technical diploma, or equivalent experience, in an architectural background.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD, 3D Solid Modeling software considered an asset.
  • Experience in a wide range of materials and manufacturing processes including but not limited to heavy timber assemblies using glulam, CLT, custom sheet metal and machined parts.
  • Experience with detailing structural welding and related specifications an asset.
  • Knowledge of the principles of sustainability – “environmental” is in our name!
