Future proof flooring
The Denver Bureau of Reclamation wanted a major refresh. Eleven floors worth. They needed a clean modern look that could serve the hundreds of people working there. Building 67 at the Denver Federal Center dated back to the ’60s, but it had good bones. How could they make the most of the existing building? DIRTT had the solution.
It started with a low-profile access floor. This allowed modular quick-connect power to be used throughout. The floor is designed to install electrical systems fast, but also offers flexibility for the future. And although it’s only two and a half inches off the floor, with custom perforated steel grills it allows airflow to the perimeter heating system.
Part of the design aesthetic was to use the existing waffle slab ceiling. They wanted to keep it uncovered in common areas with dropped ceilings in offices and meeting spaces. Since DIRTT can build to 1/16th of an inch, working with different heights, bulkheads, and ductwork was nearly seamless. With writable surfaces and integrated technology walls to round it out, the space is engaging, productive and award winning.
