Allina Health Surgery Center - Lakeville

Allina Health was creating a series of ambulatory surgery centers across Minnesota. They were looking for a way to differentiate the patient experience by leaning into an elevated, hospitality-inspired aesthetic. To do that, they used DIRTT.

As a prefabricated, modular construction system, DIRTT offers a high-end fit and finish that looks as good as it works. Leveraging the space in the wall cavity allows healthcare facilities to integrate equipment right into the wall, offering a clean finish and polished look. Integrated displays remain protected behind backpainted glass with a seamless, easy-to-clean wall. Accessories are mounted on precision-cut reveals in the assembly, while writable graphic panels are embedded in the wall to enhance patient communications.

The whole facility is tied together with watercolor murals created by a local artist. Spanning solid wall panels, center-mounted glass, and sliding doors, this calming imagery inspired by European stained glass, is applied to strong DIRTT substrates. Because our MDF panel is 15 times more durable than drywall, there’s no need for a protective cover on the walls that would obstruct the artwork.

Getting the most out of this construction system was something that Allina learned building multiple projects with DIRTT. Building a series facilities in the state, they were able to scale up with efficiency. The more you use DIRTT, the more you can get out of it. Combining all these elements has created a facility that brings out the best in the people that use it.
