In the wake of COVID -19, healthcare spaces across North America were at capacity. To solve this challenge, The Boldt Company and HGA architects teamed up to create a modular, prefabricated, inpatient critical-care environment called STAAT Mod™. Short for strategic, temporary, acuity-adaptable treatment, STAAT Mod is factory-made to accelerate lead times for constructing healthcare spaces. They knew from experience that building off-site was faster, safer and more efficient than building on-site.
Outfitting the inside of these structures using conventional construction methods meant drywall, tape. and mud. It also meant an eight-hour drying time between stages. Boldt didn’t have the time to wait or the space to park these modules as they dried. When it came time to update the original STAAT Mod design, the team thought of DIRTT.
