Lehigh University Health, Science, and Technology Building

A well-respected research university, Lehigh was aiming for LEED certification as they constructed the administrative home of their new College of Health. With another eye on future adaptability, Lehigh used the DIRTT Construction System to build out the core offices and collaboration spaces on four floors of the building. 

In the Dean’s Office, DIRTT customized the panels on their 4” Solid Walls to accommodate custom shelving. With the ability to support up to 700 pounds, the wall easily holds the hundreds of books lining the office walls. Using DIRTT Classic Glass and Combination Walls, Lehigh created free-standing pods to act as cross-functional touchdown spaces. The building’s 14-foot ceilings offer an open feel, but adding a cornice to the DIRTT wall allowed contractors to add a drop ceiling for improved acoustics. Lined with writable surfaces, those spaces encourage energetic collaboration. The writable surfaces are so popular the school is looking at adding more. And because DIRTT panels are designed to be removed for instant access to the wall cavity, changing over to writable panels will be quick, clean, and easy.
