When COVID-19 hit, everything changed. To prepare for an influx of patients, healthcare organizations needed to increase the number of people they could treat. This particular facility was already under construction when North America started locking down. To speed up construction under tighter restrictions, they turned to DIRTT. They knew that our advanced manufacturing and modular approach could shave valuable time off their schedule.

They asked DIRTT to build 16 patient headwalls. As those in healthcare know, this isn’t a matter of throwing up a few panels and calling it a day. Headwalls have specific code requirements related to power and medical gasses on the inside. The project had allotted four weeks for preconstruction. DIRTT cut that time in half, then installed the headwalls in just five days. It’s something that would be impossible with conventional construction. From first phone call to the end of install was only seven weeks total. Instead of focusing on punch lists they were focusing on patients by opening sooner.
