The intensive care unit at King Fahad General hospital was designed to balance comfort and practicality for both patients and caregivers. Graphic panels with dynamic patterns, calming hues, and biophilic imagery help create a soothing safe, environment. A variety of spaces are equipped with displays to deploy distraction imagery. Embedded into the wall to protect the devices, these solutions offer easy access to information while also being easy to clean. Wall gaskets and touchless doors also support infection prevention and control. Switchable glass in charting stations means staff can monitor patients, while giving them privacy when they need it. This patient-focused space is a model of efficiency. Four isolation rooms, four nurse’s stations and 32 patient rooms were built in only 100 days.
